Medvedev powers past China’s Wu into U.S. Open fourth round

Defending champion Daniil Medvedev advanced to the fourth round of the US Open with a straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 win over top seed Wu Yibing of China on Friday.

Medvedev beat Wu Yibing in straight sets to face Kyrgios in the US Open's fourth round, aiming to defend his title.

Stefan Kozlov and Artur Rinderknecht Lead Russia to Victory with Impressive Performance

With their outstanding performance in the last two rounds, Stefan Kozlov and Artur Rinderknecht led Russia to victory. Stefan Kozlov and Artur Rinderknecht were on fire during their match, delivering a total of 12 aces and successfully converting six of 12 breaks. As a result of their impressive performance, they were able to gain the upper hand against their opponent. As a result of their dominant play, they easily dispatched their 22-year-old opponent.

After Serena Williams lost to Ajla Tomljanovic, Medvedev's victory in front of an emotional Arthur Ashe Stadium meant he had reached the round of 16 at Flushing Meadows for the fourth consecutive year.

Wu, who became the first Chinese to reach the third round in US Open history, suffered a series of unforced errors in the clash as Medvedev won in one hour and 55 minutes.

After sealing a close first set, Medvedev broke early and raced to a 5-1 lead in the next game, closing it out to take control of the contest.

Wu collapsed under constant pressure as the third set ended his bid to become the first player to win back-to-back US Open titles since Medudev's reign of five from 2004-08.

Medvedev could lose his No.1 ranking to Nadal if he is defeated by Kyrgios in the next round of the tournament.

"We played a good game. Everything was very solid on the board," said Medvedev, who had lost three of his previous four meetings with Kyrgios.

"It's 3-1 for him but I will try to do better today and it will be a good game for people to watch."
