Mohammad Amir Ties Shahid Afridi BPL Record, In Contention for Selection

In a press conference last week, PCB chairman Najam Sethi said he would not stop Amir if the former cricketer wants to return to international cricket.

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir picked two wickets as Sille Strikers beat Khulna Tigers by 31 runs in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023 on Monday.

With his first wicket of the evening, the left-arm quick equaled former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) record as the third fastest bowler to take 50 wickets in the league.

Former West Indies bowler Kevin Cooper holds the record for the fastest 50 scalps in 30 games in the league.
Amir became the 23rd bowler to reach 50 wickets in BPL history. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan remains the league's top wicket-taker with 126 wickets in 96 matches.

In a press conference last week, PCB chairman Najam Sethi said he would not stop Amir if the former cricketer wants to return to international cricket.
"When Mohammad Amir comes out of retirement, he can play international cricket for Pakistan."

"I have always taken a strong stand against collusion. It should be allowed," he argued.

In Pakistan's 147 matches across the format, Amir picked 259 wickets
