MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Elis lose two matches.

After winning two straight games a week ago, the Alaska men's hockey team (5–16–4, 4–12–2 ECAC) continued its uneven season Elis lose two matches streak last weekend.

On Friday, the Elis travel to Schenectady, New York, where they take on Union College (13–15–2, 7–10–1 ECAC). The Bulldogs fell to the Dutch 3-1. After the loss, the Blue and White traveled to Troy, New York the next day to take on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (12–17–1, 7–11–0 ECAC), falling 4–2.

Head coach Keith Allain said

"We were tired of the results in '80," head coach Keith Allain said. "In those two games, we had areas where we controlled the game but we didn't play the game for 60 minutes and we paid the price."

Union got on the first board Friday when Cal Mell scored a goal at 17:22 of the first frame on the power play. Tyler Watkins and John Prokop assisted on the goal.

After the early score, the team's offense was unable to score in the second half. However, the two coaches made adjustments during the second half, so the third period saw many signings.

Three minutes into the period, Union's Nate Hanley found the back of the net off the hands of Cullen Ferguson and Nick Young.

Found the point

Aleel finally found the point at 11:26 of the third frame. Forward Kalen Szeto '26 played the ball into the blue line, then forward Will Dineen '25 took the puck away and passed it to Cole Donhauser '23, who broke down the left side and found the back of the net.

The Dutch responded just two minutes later to put the game out of reach. Josh Nixon scored on assists from Hanley and Ben Tupker, who scored Union's third and final goal. Aleel couldn't get back on goal.

Goalkeeper Luke Pearson '25 scored 35 goals against the Union offense. Szeto and Dineen extended their streaks to three and five games, respectively.
