LeBron James sets a new record in the NBA for the highest number of points scored.




The Los Angeles Lakers star passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 39-year-old record of 38,387 points in his 20th NBA season.

The Los Angeles Lakers star scored more than 38,387 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder's Abdul-Jabbar on Tuesday in his 20th NBA season.





James raised his hands above his head as the Crypto.com Arena erupted to celebrate his new record of 38,388 points.





James' family, including his mother, wife, and their three children, spoke during the 10-minute break to celebrate the iconic moment in NBA history. LeBron James sets a new record in the NBA





Lakers big man Abdul-Jabbar sat courtside and raised the ball to James, who ceremoniously passed the torch. James wiped tears from his eyes before addressing the crowd.





"Standing in front of a great legend like Kareem means a lot to me," James told the crowd before thanking family, friends, and fans.
